Letter from Mr. Cristofaro regarding term 3 report cards and important upcoming dates

April 20th, 2009.

Dear Parent/Guardian

Although with the arrival of the fine weather comes a greater desire to be outdoors and enjoy the sunshine, I would like to remind all parents of the importance of insisting that their children dedicate a substantial amount of time to their studies. We recently mailed Term 3 report cards which although are technically progress reports, they clearly indicate your child's performance in all subjects. I have also commented on areas of concern on your child's report where I thought it was important to do so. In some cases if there are no marked improvements in Term 4, a recommendation for summer school will be attached to final report cards.

I have attached some preliminary information about summer school including dates, times and courses being offered. A more detailed version of the schedule will be forth coming.

Again I encourage you to contact your child's teacher if you have concerns and for suggestions on what can be done to improve marks. For those doing well, please encourage them to continue their hard work in the next few crucial weeks.

Please find below a few important dates to note:

  • The following Professional Days are cancelled and will be regular school days: May 1st and 6th. They will be a Day 9 and 2 respectively.

  • May 12th (originally planned for May 6th) is a Board-wide professional day for all members of staff. No classes will be held on that day.

  • May 1st and 2nd are also dates to note with our Drama Department performing the Broadway Hit Grease. It also promises to be a great show for which students have practiced long and hard to perfect. We ask that you please show your support by attending.

  • The last day of classes for the school year 2008-09 will be June 2nd 2009. Exams begin on June 3rd, the last one being held on June 23rd.

Regards,

Michael Cristofaro
